About Us

Thank you for showing your interest in JoinTheImpact, Inc. (JTI). JTI is a grassroots and netroots organization geared at gaining full equality for the LGBTQI community through outreach, education, and demonstration.  It began on November 7th, 2008 with two friends emailing back and forth about the California passage of Proposition 8.  What grew out of this was a spirit of netroots activism that led to the 300 city international protests of Proposition 8 on November 15th, 2008.  Since then, JTI has evolved into an organization that has called for specific actions every month from city leaders and organizers around the globe.

Terms And Conditions Of Join The Impact National

Because of the netroots foundation of JTI, the structure may seem a little blurred at times.  As such, a second site is used for organizing that has been dubbed The Impact.  On this site, people can organize local non-JTI events in their city as well as JTI specific events that the JTI board calls for.  JTI recognizes that this form of organizing helps to empower local activists to make a difference in their neighborhoods.  JTI also recognizes that ambitious organizers who have previously organized a JTI event, may want to use the JTI name for any local events going forward, and may use The Impact to do this without gaining permissions to use the JTI name.  Because of this, unless the event is one called for by the National JTI organization (which you will find only on the Official JTI events page AND JoinTheImpact.com), it is not an official JTI event.  Exceptions occur only when the person using the JTI name has express written consent to do so.  Any organization questioning the use of the JTI name may request this written consent at any time.  If the organizer is unable to furnish consent, then they have not followed the proper channels and do not have permission from JTI to use the name.  Further, JTI is not liable for any use of the JTI name that JTI did not previously approve.  Some may feel that using the JTI name will help gain credibility for their event, goals, or purpose.  Unless they have consent to use the name (a written and binding contract), or speak on behalf of JTI, they are not legally bound to JTI, protected by JTI, accountable to JTI, allowed to use the JTI name, nor is JTI bound to or accountable to them.

Finally, if one would like to form a state-wide JTI organization, they must obtain written consent to use the JTI name for their organization.  Any action that is done by their organization that is not a JTI national action, requires approval from the JTI national board to obtain full support and liability from JTI as an etity. If and when a JTI state-wide organization chooses to act on their own without the express written consent of JTI-national, they agree to take on all legal responsibilities and full liability for their actions and JTI-national will not be held responsible for their actions.  This agreement is not to deter any JTI group from acting in the best interest of their local community.  It is only to make clear how an organization can obtain legal protections from JTI and when those protections are not available.

To obtain full legal protections, a JTI-state organization must become a legal chapter of JTI.  This includes a full vetting process and contractual agreement between that organization and JTI-national.  This agreement will be made on a case by case basis for the sole purpose of ensuring all needs of the local community and state are met.

Many organizations will choose to remain their own entity and not use the JTI name to avoid sed restrictions.  These organizations can still volunteer to run national JTI events and JTI appreciates them a great deal.  An organization acting as their own entity can only refer to JTI events that they have participated in or organized when building coalitions and partnerships with other organizations.  They cannot say that they are speaking on behalf of JTI or use their JTI relationship to their gain.  Those who can speak on behalf of JTI will have express written permission to do so, which will come after a full vetting process.

These terms and conditions are written to protect JoinTheImpact, Inc. from the improper usage of the JTI name or JTI resources.   It is also meant to protect JTI organizers when organizing an official JTI event.  Finally, it is meant to protect non-JTI organizations from those who seek to use the JTI name to their gain.
